BOREAL luminaire pays tribute to historic Mandelieu-La-Napoule, creating unique nocturnal backdrop for activities

A beautiful town in the French Riviera, Mandelieu-la-Napoule is located near Cannes in the Alpes-Maritimes department. A popular destination for tourists, it offers stunning panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea and the famed Mimosa Trail. In fact, the town is home to the largest forest of mimosas and is renowned for its annual festival in hour of this flower.

This historic town is also home to a famous landmark, the Château de la Napoule, one of the oldest and the most beautiful castles in France. Built in the 14th century, this former medieval fortress is classified a historical landmark and its gardens are listed by the French Ministry of Culture as among the Notable gardens of France.

Urban lighting for character

In 2017, the Mayor of the town, Mr. Leroy and the council decided to upgrade the lighting in the area around the castle to create a distinctive nocturnal ambiance. The Mayor himself chose the BOREAL LED luminaire during a visit to the Salon des Maires trade fair. Without a doubt, this eye-catching luminaire has a lot to offer.

Reflecting Mandelieu-La-Napoule’s soul

Its design is reminiscent of ancient Venetian lanterns that inspire and create festive atmospheres thanks to a mask. It can also be customised to pay tribute to a town’s identity.

Schréder SIGNATURE suggested integrating the town’s emblem into the mask, a proposal that immediately won over the Mayor. The various elements of the coat of arms, such as the squirrel, a symbol of liveliness and independence, and the castle’s ramparts, adorn the mask.

As a result, Mandelieu-La-Napoule benefits from unique luminaires that reflect its identity.

Incorporating the town’s coat of arms into the luminaire mask is, in my opinion, a symbol of modernity! It is a tribute to the history of Mandelieu.

Colour and movement magnify landscape

Thanks to this new urban lighting, Mandelieu La Napoulehas has a completely new atmosphere, both by day and by night, while respecting the law on light pollution.

During the day, the stainless steel mask with a mirror finish enhances the spaces. At night, it decorates the landscape thanks to the multi-colour effects of the dichroic filter that reflects the light, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere throughout the streets of the town. It incites people who feel safe and secure to visit its attractions after nightfall while highlighting its’ architecture and heritage.

Locals and tourists alike can now experience the town from a new perspective as they move through the streets for pleasure or necessity.
