Schréder Together for Our Planet: Team Beach Clean 2025
On 2nd September, a group of our Urbis Schréder colleagues headed to Bournemouth beach to take part in our latest Schréder Together for Our Planet initiative – a team BeachClean in partnership with the Marine Conservation Society (MCS).
Armed with litter pickers, bags, and plenty of determination, the team surveyed a 100m stretch of beach and carried out additional clean-ups across the surrounding area. In just a few hours, we removed an incredible 17.5kg of litter that could otherwise have harmed marine life or ended up back in our oceans.
The Impact We Made
✔ 861 items recorded in our official survey – over half of which were plastic and polystyrene (59%).
✔ 3.5kg collected during the survey, 8kg from the “Source to Sea Litter Quest,” and 6kg during an extra clean – making a total of 17.5kg.
✔ Most of the litter came from public sources (55%), with everything from bottle tops and crisp packets to broken glass, wet wipes, and balloons uncovered along the shoreline.
This hands-on work not only removed visible waste but also provided vital data to the Marine Conservation Society, helping them campaign for stronger environmental protections and long-lasting change.
More than a Clean Up
As Claire Edwards from the Marine Conservation Society shared:
“By cleaning up and recording beach litter you've done something amazing for our seas. Not only did you remove litter that harms our marine life and pollutes our ocean, but you've also provided vital data to help us campaign for long-lasting change.”
Beyond the numbers, our volunteers took away valuable insights into the scale of the plastic problem and a real sense of pride in making a tangible difference.
Why this matters to us
At Urbis Schréder, sustainability is at the heart of what we do. Our Together for Our Planet pillar is about going beyond business to protect and restore the environments we all rely on. This BeachClean is just one example of how our team contributes to global sustainability efforts and supports our EcoVadis goals by taking responsible, measurable action.
